Dictionary of Manipuri Medical Terms (Manipuri-English)

অথীবম
(Atheebam): = ফিনূং = Urinogenital region = the part of the body where urinogenital organs and the system lie. The urinogenital organs means the organs and tissues concerned to both the excertion and reproduction which are anatomically closely associated. But there are some differences in the organs, systems and functions of the organs in respects of the male/man and female/woman. The urinogenital system of male contains :- (1) Penis, (2) Scrotum, (3) Testis, (4) Epididymis, (5) Ductus deferens, (6) Seminal vesicle, (7) Ejaculatory duct, (8) Prostrate gland, (9) Glans, (10) Urinary bladder, (11) Rectum, (12) Urethra, (13) Anus, (14) Corpus cavrnosum, (15) Corpus spongiosum, (16) Pubic bone, etc. The urinogenital system of female consists of :- (1) public bone, (2) labia majora, (3) labia minora, (4) urethra, (5) urinary bladder, (6) vagina, (7) uterus, (8)fallopian tube, (9) ovary, (10) clitoris, (11) anus, (12) rectum.

অতঙবা
(Atangba):(i) Cut-mark = Scar = A mark left on the skin after a sore/wound or injury has healed. (ii)Cicatrix= it is the medical name of scar which is a fibrous tissue marking where a lesin (localized area of tissue damage which is caused by an injury/desease and inhibiting function) has been healed. Perfect healing (or surgical repair) is not perfect a scar remains consisting of connective tissue.

অনম অথৌ (অথও) কোকপা

অনম-অহা চুবা
(Anam-Aha Chuba):Lack of initiative or laziness = disincline to work or do anything requiring effort.

অনা অয়েক
(Ana-Ayek): Sickness = unwell/illness or suffering/ailment of vomiting, feeling of vomiting (nausea), etc.

অনূৱা
Anuwa: Vacant strip/strait of open land where fresh air can be procured in evening/morning walking in the countryside.

অপাৎ-অপোম
(Apat-Apom):Ulcer = a peristen open sore on the surface of the skin or of the mucous membranes lining a body cavity/tissue.

অপাৎপা
(Apatpa): Ulcer = See Apat-Apom, or Lesion = localized area of tissue damage which is caused by injury and wound or infection of a disease and inhibing function causing physical pain, or (ii) an abnormal change in the structure of a tissue or an organ as a result of disease or injury or sore.

অপোমবা
(Apomba): (i) Boil = a redden, pus filled swelling in the skin caused by bacterial infection of a hair follicle. (ii) Abscess = a localized collection of pus in a cavity surrounded by inflamed tissue usually caused by bacterial infection.

অবু-কাবা
(Abu-kaba):Flatulence : See Aeeing-Ashu kaba.
