Dictionary of Manipuri Medical Terms (Manipuri-English)

ককখায়বা/চেখায়বা
(Kakkhaiba/chekhaiba): Cleft/Fissure = Chink = the act of making opening by cleaving/splitting/cracking/bursting or forming an abnormal split crack in the surface of tissue, skin or mucous membrane.A common type is the anal fissure (vestical tear of the lining as a source of some perinal infections and fistula of ulcer of sphincters).

ককলাই
(Kaklai): Suffering by fissure/cleft = an ailment caused by fissure of tissue and skin surface, especially on/in the dead and live skin of the sole and heel. The cleft/chink is caused by less coverage of the oily/greasy secretion of the skin or it tissues due to the formation of a thick outer layer by the accumulation of dead cells/tissues.

কংখু
(Kangkhu): Dry Coughing = a chronic suffering of the excel of air from the lungs through the throat which is inflected with irritation. The coughing is repeated several times with giving of the discharge of nothing but the air which is excelled with the sudden opening of glottis. Its symptom is coughing repeatedly with the continual characteristic sound of blank coughing with detention/rentention of inhaling of the respiration. It is caused by the irritation of the throat membrane and underlying tissues and the result of some chronic diseases like bronchities tuberculosis, etc.

কপ্লাক
(Kaplak): Genual back = the part of the hind limb or leg laying just on the back of the knee or the hinge joint of the thigh and the shin and above the calf.

কপ্লাক কুরু কাবা (কপ্লক কূরু শ্তংবা)
(Kaplak Kuru Kaba): Old/Aged state = to become old/aged condition and position as the back of the knee is in acute or narrower state with the folding skins.

কপ্লাক কুরু কাবা (কপ্লক কূরু শুংবা)
(Kamya): Groin = the part of the body where the lower abdomen joints the upper/top portion of the thigh.

কময়া নাবা
(Kamya Naba): Softsore= chancroid = a sexually transmited disease caused by bactrium Haemophilus ducreyi in enlargement and ulceration of lymph nodes in the groin. Treatment with sulphonamides is effective.

করোংচাক
(Karongchak): Pose/Posture in upside down feature = a state/position of keeping the body upside down as the head on the surface while the foot in the space on erect position.This is called `Shitishasana` in Yogic term and one of the yogic physical exercise.

কলাজোর
(Kalajor): Kala-azar or Visceral leishmaniasis or Dumdum fever = a tropical disease caused by the parasitic protzoan Leishmania donovani. The parasite which is transmitted to human by sandflies, invaded the cells of the lymphatic system, spleen and bone marrow. Symptoms include enlargement and subsequent lesions of liver and spleen; anaemia: a low leucocyte count: weight loss: and irregular fever. Drugs containing antimony with supplentary pentamidine are used in treatment of this potentially fetal disease.

কামখৎপা
(Kamkhatpa):Fatness/Fattiness= the state of being fatness/fattiness due to the increase of fats in the muscles which are made of tissues. (II) Swelling/bulging = the state/condition of expansion and extension of space by increase of volume of the masses constituting/making a body or organ/limb of a body.
