स्वतंत्र निर्देशांक

थियोडोलाइट या कम्पास चंक्रम में अक्षांश या विचलन (डिपार्चरस) निर्देशांक, जब मूल बिन्दु की तरह प्रारम्भिक बिन्दु के सन्दर्भ में प्रयुक्त होते हैं तो स्वतंत्र निर्देशांक (इंडिपेंडेन्ट कोआडिंनेट्स) कहलाते हैं । गेल्स चंक्रम विधि स्वतंत्र निर्देशांक विधि द्वारा चंक्रम आलेखन की ही विधि है ।

In the case of a theodolite or compass traverse the coordinates either latitudes or departures when they are referred to the starting point as the origin they are called independent coordinates. The Gales, Traverse method is a method of plotting a traverse by the method of independent coordinates.
