Slope - profile line

ढाल परिच्छेदिका रेखा

किसी ढाल के ऊपरी सिरे से नीचे तक खींची जाने वाली सीधी रेखा जो समोच्च रेखाओं को समकोण पर काटती हैं ।

A straight line drawn from the upper end of the slope to the bottom, and cuts the contour lines at right angle.

लघु वृत्त

भूपृष्ठ पर कोई भी वृत जिसका तल पृथ्वी के केन्द्र से नहीं गुजरता लघु वृत्त कहलाता है (यानि यह दीर्घवृत्त नहीं है ) । विषुवत के अलावा सभी अक्षांश रेखाएं लघुवृत्त होती हैं ।

सोनो रेडियो बाइज / ध्वनि संकेत प्लबक

एक प्रकार का उपस्कर जिसका उपयोग किसी जहाज की स्थिति ज्ञात करने में किया जाता है । ये उपस्कर समुद्र के किनारे कई स्थानों पर लगे रहते हैं और इनमें ऐसे प्लवक होते हैं दो जल में उत्पन्न ध्वनि तरंगों से प्रभावित होते हैं । जब जहाज द्वारा किसी विस्फोट या अन्य प्रकार से ध्वनि उत्पन्न की जाती है तो उस प्रकार की ध्वनि तरंगों को ये प्लवक ग्रहण कर परावर्तित करते हैं जिससे दूरी अथवा स्थिति ज्ञात हो जाती है ।

A type of equipment which is used to determine the position of a ship. These equipments are fitted at several points along the shore and have got such buoys whicha re affected by sound waves produced in water. When the vessel produces sound by means of explosion or any other thing. the sound waves produced thus, are received and refracted by these buoys, By this way the distance and position of the vessel is determined.

परिवर्धित बहुशांकव प्रक्षेप पर सम्पूर्ण भारत और दक्षिण एशिया के लिए 1: 2000000 के माप पर मानचित्रों की एक सीरीज । इस सीरीज का प्रत्येक पत्रक 8° अक्षांश और 12° देशान्तर का क्षेत्र निरूपित करता है । यह दो संस्करणों में प्रकाशित है एक स्तरित तथा दूसरी अनस्तरित ।

A Series of maps drawn on modified polyconic projection on 1: 2 M. scale covering the whole of India and Sourh Asia. Each sheet is bounded by 8° latitude and 12° longitude. It is published in two editions 1st layered and the other unlayered.

मानचित्र विज्ञान की वह शाखा जिसमें अंतरतारिकीय और अंतरग्रहीय अंतरिक्ष को संचित्रित किया जाता है ।

आन्तरिक नाम भूपृष्ठ पर किसी क्षेत्र के नाम को दर्शाने के लिए लिखे जाते हैं । इस नाम में अक्षर समान दूरी पर उस क्षेत्र के सम्पूर्ण भाग में लिखे जाते हैं , उदाहरणार्थ प्रशासनिक खंड हिमालय, अंधमहासागर आदि ।

The spaced name is used to show the name of an area of the earth's surface by letters evenly written across the extent of the area. For example Administrative division, Himalayas, Atlantic Ocean etc.

विशिष्ट ग्लोब

ग्लोब का वह वर्ग जिसमें जलवायवी तत्वों जैसे तापमान, वर्षा तथा दाब आदि को ऋतुओं के अनुसार दर्शाया जाता है । इस प्रकार के ग्लोबों से पृथ्वी की जलवायु के बारे में मानचित्र की अपेक्षा अधिक ज्ञान प्राप्त होता है ।

A category of globe which shows climatological elements i.e. temperature, rainfall and pressure etc. According to seasons. Such globes give a better idea of the earth's climate than do maps.
