ಮಡಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆವಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಸುಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಮಡಕೆಗಳು ಸುಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಬಗೆಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸೆರಾಮಿಕ್ ಬಳೆಯನ್ನು ಆವಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿಡುವರು ಆ ಬಳೆಯೊಂದನ್ನೆ ಕವೆಗೋಲಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರತೆಗೆದು ಸುಡತಿಯನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು.

Any ware produced out of earth or clay, a pottery fired at a low temperature about 7000c which remains porous until glazed, this is the most common form of ware.

ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ತಾಪಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ (7000-10000ಸಿ)ಸುಟ್ಟ ಮಡಕೆ, ಸಚ್ಛಿದ್ರತೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಉಳಿದಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಂದಲೂ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕುಂಭ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ಒಂದು ವಿಧ. ಬಡವರಿಂದ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರವರೆಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಉಪಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಪಂಚದಾದ್ಯಂತ ನಡೆದ ಉತ್ಖನನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಬಗೆಯ ಮಡೆಗಳು ದೊರೆತಿವೆ. ಮಡಕೆಗಳ ಗಾತ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಉಪಯೋಗಕ್ಕನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಬೇರೆ, ಬೇರೆ ಹೆಸರುಗಳಿಂದ ಕರೆಯುವರು. ನೀರು ತರುವ, ಬಿಂದಿಗೆ, ಕೊಡ, ನೀರು ತುಂಬಿಡುವ ಹರವಿ, ಪಡಗ ಆಹಾರ ಬೇಯಿಸುವ ಗಡಿಗೆ, ಚಟಿಗೆ ಇತರೆ ಅಡುಗೆ ಮನೆಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳು, ಮಧ್ಯ ತುಂಬಿಡುವ ಪಾತ್ರೆ, ಧಾನ್ಯ ತುಂಬಿಡುವ ವಾಡೆ, ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಆಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸುವ ಮಡಕೆ, ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ, ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಕುಂಭವಸ್ತುಗಳು.
