ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆವಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಸುಡುವಾಗ ಜ್ವಾಲೆಗಳು ಮಡಕೆಗೆ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ತಾಗದಿರಲೆಂದು ಅಗ್ನಿ ನಿರೋಧಕ ಇಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ತಡೆಗೋಡೆ.

ಉಂಡೆಜೇಡು, ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಿದುಣತ್ವ ಉಳ್ಳದ್ದು, ಕುಂಭವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಗ್ಲೇಸಿಂಗಿಗೆ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವರು. ಮೊದಲಿಗೆ ಗಣಿಗಳಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದ ಮಣ್ಣನ್ನು ಉಂಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಮಡಕೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ 'ಬಾಲ್ ಕ್ಲೇ' ಎನ್ನುವ ಹೆಸರು ಬಂದಿದೆ.

ತಿರುಗುವ ಡ್ರಮ್, ಕುಂಭ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೆಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಚಿಕ್ಕಯಂತ್ರ, ಜೇಡಿಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಪುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಡ್ರಮ್ಮಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ನೀರುಬೆರಸಿ ಡ್ರಮ್ ತಿರುಗಿಸಿ ಮಿಶ್ರಣ ಮಾಡುವರು.

ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಸಬಹುದಾದ ಕುಂಬಾರನ ಕೈತಿಗುರಿ, ಮಣ್ಣನ್ನು ಸುರುಳಿ ಮಾಡಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಂಭ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಂಕರಣ ಮಾಡಲು ಈ ತಿಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವರು.

ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ತಾಪಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಟ್ಟ ಹೊಳಪುರಹಿತವಾದ ಕುಂಭ ವಸ್ತು. 1768ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಕುಂಭ ತಜ್ಞ ಜೋಷೈ ವೆಡ್ಗವುಡ್ ಈ ಕಪ್ಪು ಪಿಂಗಾಣಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ತಂದನು.

ಆವಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿಡುವ ಕಪಾಟಿಗೆ (ರ್ಯಾಕ್) ಅಗ್ನಿ ನಿರೋಧಕ ಮಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ಹಂಚು. ಚಕ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೇಯುವಾಗ ಬಳಸುವ ಅಗಲನೆಯ ಡಿಸ್ಕ, ಹಸಿ ಮಡಕೆಗಳು ಬೀಳದಂತೆ ಇಡಲು ಮಾಡಿದ ಸಾಧನ

ಕುಂಭ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆವಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟು ಸುಡುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಅಗ್ನಿ ನಿರೋಧಕ ಮಿಶ್ರಣವನ್ನು ಆವಿಗೆಯ ಕಪಾಟುಗಳಿಗೆ ಲೇಪಿಸುವುದು. ಇದರಿಂದ ಕಂಭ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ಒಂದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಅಂಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಮಣಿ, ಮಣಿಸರ ಹರಪ್ಪ ಮೊಹಂಜದಾರೋ ಉತ್ಖನನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊರಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮಣಿಸರ ದೊರೆತಿವೆ. ಎನಾಮಿಲ್ ಮಾಡಿದಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮಣಿಸರಗಳನ್ನು ಅಲಂಕಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೆಂಗಸರು ಧರಿಸುವರು.
