apne, apnī, Rus. Apno, apas, apan, adj. 1. Apno apno hai, parāyo parāyo. Rus. Your own is your own, strangers are strangers. 2 Apno ghar, apno bāhar. Rus. Your house is my own, inside or out. 3. Dhi, jaṅvāī, bhānjā, yeh tīnoṅ nahīṅ apnā. prov. A daughter, a son-in-law, and a nephew, these three are never one's own. 4. Apnā gū bhojan. Prov. One's own dirt is food. (One's own vices seem virtues).

To hang down one's head, or hide one's face through shame, Sārī shahwat ṭhanḍī ho gaī, apnā sā mūṅh le-kar uṭh gayā. All his heat cooled down, and he rose with his head in a bag.
