abhmān', abhwān, n.m. S.अभि much, मन् to think. Pride; self-conceit; arrogance; hanghtiness; hauteur; vain-glory; overweening. Abhimān galā'nā, abhwān nisānā, Old. H. v.a. To bring down one's pride. Nakh par jāё Gobardhan dhāriyo, Indrā ko abhimān gā'iyo. Brij. Uopn his nail he held up Gobardhan. Great Indra's lofty pride was humbled then. abhimān miṭ'nā, v.n. To be rid of one's pride; to have one's pride taken out of him. Madhur Bachan teṅ jāt miṭ uttam jan abhmān, Brig. Soft words will bring down a good man's pride.
