ubaṭ'nā, up'ṭan, E. Hin. Abṭan, n.m. s. उर्द्व्तनं, Pr. उब्बडगां rubbing or kneading the body. A cosmetic; a composition of gram or barley meal, mixed with turmeric, oil, and other Ingredients to soften and clean the skin; and invigorate and beautify the person. This is used especially by the bride and bridegroom for about ten days before the marriage. The ingredients of the composition vary.
