Āj nahīṅ, kal. Prov. Not to-day. Tomarrow. This proverb is founded on the story of an ultra-pious Mahomedan who used every night to pray under a tree that God in his love would draw him to himself (Khudā apnī muhabbat meū īṅch). Prov. Saying. One night a wag. sitting on a branch overhead, let down a noose with which he began to haul up the devotee. "Not to day", roared the pious man, "to-morrow."

Hitherto; to this day; as yet; till now; up to this time. 1. Sab ko neatal, keu na byāhal, Aja-hūṅ ādh kuṅar. Kabīr. She calleth all, but weddeth none. A virgin from the first she keeps. (Said of māyā. Or the illusions of this world.) 2.Āj-hūṅ lag mukh dikhātā naīn opas kā, Sajan mujh hāl suṅ kyā be-khabar hai ! Walī. Till now he has not shewn his face to me, How heedless of my state my loved one seems !.

Even now; just now; immediately; this very da; even to-day. Āj fajar, adv. This morning. Āj kidhar kā chāṅd hai ? Lit. on which side is the moon ? Wonder of wonders ! What a wender ! Āj kidhar kā chāṅ! Hai, jo tum idhar ā nīkle ?
